Roman Catholic faith formation is a lifelong process that helps families learn about the Catholic Church’s traditions.  The goal is to live a faith-filled life in Jesus Christ.

Joining Faith Formation

It is never too late to sign your children up for Faith Formation class! Children can be signed up year round. All children are encouraged to attend Faith Formation every year. Register your child today or reach out to the director with any questions.

First Communion

First Communion will be offered in 3rd grade. Parents of older students that would like their children to receive these sacraments must email the Faith Formation Director faithformationdirector@ourladyqueenofangels.net to set up an appointment.

All students are encouraged to attend Faith Formation every year. If your child has not attended every year, he/she will be expected to complete catchup materials at an additional expense.  If you are coming from another Faith Formation program, you need to supply the Director of Faith Formation contact from your previous program

Confirmation

Before being confirmed, all students must take the necessary steps to prepare. One of the main steps is signing up for Faith Formation.

All students are encouraged to attend Faith Formation every year. If your child has not attended every year, he/she will be expected to complete catchup materials at an additional expense.  If you are coming from another Faith Formation program, you need to supply the Director of Faith Formation contact from your previous program.

There will be assignments assigned to every class which students will need to complete.

All students are required to attend every class and be ready to participate. Facilitators will call on students.

Community Service Opportunities

Service is also a large part of Confirmation preparation. All students are expected to join in our service projects.

Requirements

All students are expected to attend each class on time. If a student misses several classes without notification, the family may receive a call from the director, and the student will be expected to make up for all missed work. When an illness or injury requires a lengthy absence, please notify the director as soon as possible, and arrangements will be made for a home study, if needed. If a student needs to be dismissed early due to an illness or injury, a parent or guardian must report to the Faith Formation front desk.  The director must be aware of the dismissal.

Any student who is ill during class time must report to the director, front desk, or teacher so we can call the parent or guardian. In the case of a family emergency, parents/guardians should come to the front door. Any student(s) who must leave class early may only be dismissed by the director, or front desk, and a parent/guardian must report to the Faith Formation front desk to sign out the student(s). This is to ensure that all students leave safely.

All Faith Formation Students are also expected to: attend Mass every Saturday or Sunday and every Holy Day of Obligation

  • Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once a year during Lent
  • Participate in Faith Formation and Church activities.
  • Participate in Mass (Lector, Altar Serve, Gift Bearer, handing out Bulletins-students will get volunteer hours for these services)

Sign up for My Parish App and join the “Faith Formation Parents” (Optional)

To join a group on My parish App: Download My Parish App by going here In the app there are 3 lines on the left side, click on them and Go to “find a parish” and search “Our Lady Queen of Angels, Meriden” and make that your favorite parish. In order to join a group you also have to create an account. After you create an account, go to groups on the home page. You will see “Faith Formation Parents” click on it to join.

Faith Formation Drop Off/Pick Up

Classes will be held in person at Holy Angels Campus on Sundays.

  • Doors will be unlocked at 8:45 am
  • Pick up time will be at 10:15 am
  • Parents will be expected to come inside and sign their child out and provide license verification for student safety.
