Planning a funeral can feel overwhelming, especially during a time of grief. Our purpose is to guide you through this process with compassion and clarity, allowing you to honor your loved one.

We begin with guiding you through your choices of reading and music selections, arranging the ceremony itself.

The Vigil Service (Wake):
Held the evening before the funeral Mass, this service usually takes place at a funeral home. It is a time for family and friends to gather, share memories, and offer prayers. If you are requesting a priest at this time, please let us know.

The Funeral Mass:
Which takes place in the church. The ceremony begins as the body or cremains are greeted at the church entrance. The priest sprinkles the casket or urn with holy water (recalling baptism) and covers it with a funeral pall (symbolizing baptismal purity).

  • Liturgy of the Word: Scripture passages are read that affirm God’s mercy and the promise of the Resurrection A homily connects these teachings to the life of the deceased, followed by prayers.
  • Liturgy of the Eucharist: Receiving Communion 
    Catholics receiving Communion and others may approach with arms crossed over their chest, for a blessing.
  • Final Commendations: The priest incenses the casket or urn and sings the Recessional hymns, entrusting the soul to God’s mercy.

The Rite of Committal: This is the final act of care for the body and takes place at the graveside, mausoleum, or crematorium.

Eulogies are permitted. Only one person may deliver eulogy, which must be under 5 minutes.
